Hot metal and mindfulness are the unlikely co-stars of this exhibition, an exploration of typography and jewellery and it's potential to communicate meaning beyond language.

Informed by my background in graphic design, and inspired by original hot-metal typesetting, I liken the patience required for silver-smithing to the determination and attentiveness involved in typeface design. By celebrating traditional craft and the handmade, this work represents the coming-out of my jewellery journey that lead me down an unexpected path of deep reflection and introspection.

I like to play with contrasting concepts and feelings, and am constantly fascinated by both the fluidity and rigidity of metals, and how those dualities relate to the human psyche. The process of transmutation is both literal and metaphysical. Each letter is hand-made in Sterling Silver, and imbued with an energy that invites contemplation and celebration. It asks us to consider the value of craft in design.
